Diagnosis

We’re not raised to recognize wintering, or to acknowledge its inevitability. Instead, we tend to see it as something that should be hidden from view lest we shock the world too greatly.”

- Katherine May

Receiving a terminal diagnosis is most often met with deep fear and confusion. With intentional support and gentle guidance, it is possible to transform this overwhelm into important insights about some of life’s most pressing questions.

Learning we have a life-limiting illness shifts the way we view ourselves and the lives that we lead. This new perspective can reveal a roadmap, helping us to see the path ahead.

My hope is to provide a safe space for you to explore this overwhelm so you can find purpose in this time of loss.

Together, we’ll work within four important Pillars of Care:

Communication:

We’ll discuss the physical, emotional, and mental changes you may experience in your loved one throughout their course of treatment.

Together we’ll formulate a plan to organize all resources and supports for your loved one’s in-home care.

Community:

We can create and connect you to community, including resource building, so that you are well supported.

We can create a plan that incorporates your family and friends so that they know how to best support you/your loved one at this time.

Care:

Together, we will create an intentional comfort plan with your loved one, incorporating what is most important to them physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

We’ll look at resources and tools that you can use to integrate self care and support.

Connection:

When walking difficult paths, we often have trouble expressing what we feel. Through different forms of creative expression, the creation of legacy projects and exploring the power of holding sacred space; we can help to move our emotions from our internal world to the external. This ultimately helps us to clarify our intentions, honor our experience, and create an anchor to return to in difficult times. Together we can remain connected to our loved ones and gently move from feeling stuck into a place of acceptance.
